The boys, members of the Cathleen McFarlane Charitable Foundation, Inc. Shooting Team, had the wonderful opportunity of representing the Foundation at the Place of Hope Second Annual Sporting Clay Charity Event on January 31, 2014. The Foundation carries on the work of its Founder Cathleen McFarlane Ross, in supporting the fight against homelessness of people, animals and those facing problems of addiction.
Place of Hope began on May 1st of 2001 and has risen in service to be the largest Child Welfare Organization in Palm Beach County, Florida. Through their faith based programs they serve upward of 165 children per day in family style foster care homes and programs.
It was an honor and a privilege to participate in their second annual Clay Shooting event this year. We have seen first hand the work done by Place of Hope and that it truly makes a difference in the lives of needy children right here at home.
Mark, Kyle, Ryan and our good friend Cliff, a past Florida State Sporting Clay Champion, made up the four member shooting team. This event featured one hundred shots per team member at ten different chooting stations. It was a well run event with plenty of fun and good competative shooting between team members and other shooting teams, all participating with a common goal in mind. Children.
With shells and golf carts provided, the boys started out on Station One making their way through the course to Station Ten. Though they didn’t win any prizes for outstanding shooting, they had a great showing with Cliff and Kyle shooting 94 out of 100. Ryan shot and 87 and Mark a 79. There were about a hundred people shooting in this event and the competition ended at the club house with raffle drawings and a good meal. Overall it was a good day of fun, great competative shooting and the knowledge that by participating we are actually making a huge difference in the life of a child in need. We’re looking forward to their third annual Sporting Clay Event scheduled for January 16, 2015 and the chance to represent the Foundation again. We hope to see you there.
The children of now will be the adults of our future and we encourage you to reach out by finding ways that you can offer your support. Individually we can make a difference, but together we can change the world. You can find out more about Place of Hope, Inc. by visiting their website at www.placesofhope.net
